Wow! What a week last week was. We’ve been incredibly busy over the past 2 weeks and so much has happened, from our video production (which will be available on our site soon!), to several press appearances, a TV interview and the biggest thing of all – it was finally announced that Private Investigators will soon need a license to operate.
We’ve been strongly in favour of this for a long time now, actively campaigning for it both on our site and in the press, and know all too well about the need for regulation within the private investigation industry. However now it seems the devil will be in the detail, how will they police the licensing? We understand that there will be a compulsory test in order to operate as a licensed private investigator, but who is going to police all of the websites to ensure that the investigators are licensed? One solution could be a unique license number required to be shown in the footer of any PI website, with a link to a profile on the SIA’s website – but only time will tell how it pans out.
Our very own Tony Smith had an article published in the Huffington Post last week regarding this, and how the licensing is long overdue. You can read it at:http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/anthony-smith/private-investigator-licensing_b_3689172.html
