The classic 1970s private investigator television show Hazell is returning to our TV screens!
The show which is based on the popular books written by former England football team manager Terry Venables and Gordon Williams, is sure to draw immediate attention to itself as former Eastenders actor Leslie Grantham is one of the leading characters of the remake.
Grantham was sacked from the popular soap Eastenders due to being featured in the national media for exposing himself on camera 8 years ago so it may come as a surprise choice of cast.
Nicolas Ball, the original leading role of Hazell is also being cast in an older version of the role which actually lends itself more to the character in the books. The show which ran from 1978 through until 1979 is expected to be released as a movie and also as a TV series, possible with ITV.
It is always interesting to Insight to hear news of private detective agencies being featured on the television as it gives us a chance to see how producers and the public may view our industry whilst also seeing the dramatic expansion of events that can occur on a daily basis within the sector.
Hopefully the new series will be just as popular if not more than when hazell was featured in the 1970s that now seem like such a long time ago!
We shall watch with interest…
